TwinMOS GizMOS USB Card Reader/Writer

These days all kinds of gadgets make use of removable media. Digital cameras, MP3 players, PDAs, and even mobile phones now have options for more storage capacity. If you have a lot of gadgets, however, transferring files from the media to the computer (and vice versa) can become a chore. This is why there are tiny doodads like the TwinMOS GizMOS USB Card Reader / Writer. Even if you have tons of memory cards, you won’t have trouble organizing your data.

The gadget is really handy. It’s light and small with a capped USB 2.0 connector on one end. Also, our test unit came in orange, but the GizMOS is available in other colors too. This card reader/writer supports nine kinds of memory cards. It handles Secure Digital (SD) cards, mini SD cards, MultiMediaCards (MMC), and RS MultiMediaCard (RSMMC). It also handles Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick Duo (MS Duo), High Speed Memory Stick (HS MS), Memory Stick Pro (MS Pro), and Memory Stick Pro Duo (MS Pro Duo) cards.

Using it requires little to no effort at all. You just plug the connector into a USB port, slip the card in the slot, and the GizMOS shows up as a drive on the computer. This makes it so simple to read and write files onto memory cards. If you run it on systems lower than Windows XP, it’ll function the same way when you install the drivers in the CD that’s packed with it. We made the GizMOS read and write files in our tests and it sure got the job done. We encountered no difficulty having the device detected on different computers and there were no errors at all.

The TwinMOS GizMOS USB Card Reader / Writer will work on Windows XP/2000/Me, Mac OS 9.x/X, and Linux systems. At P699, why wouldn’t you want it?
